Why Prophet Muhammad Remains My Favorite Figure

Why is the Prophet SAW still loved by all Muslims and many others today?
  • A favourite is something you cherish, whether it be a material item or an intangible concept that may not exist. It also includes things you admire, such as books, brands, and various items that you regularly use or enjoy. The term favourite implies a preference for one option over others, recognizing that the chosen items are particularly suited to your tastes.
  • People are living beings that breathe in oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide. They can be either male or female and are capable of communicating with others through their own language or sign systems. They are part of various races, ethnic groups, and nationalities, and they are either governed by or govern in their respective countries.
  • The person I admire most and believe is ideal to converse with is the esteemed Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who was born in Mecca. He lived between two cities, Medina and Mecca. The Prophet’s character exemplifies kindness, honesty, self-reliance, and many other commendable traits. During his childhood, he lost both parents and was raised by his other parent, likely his caring uncle, with whom the Prophet (peace be upon him) worked and tended sheep before reaching adulthood.
  • Following the death of his benevolent uncle, he became independent by collaborating with Maisara, a trader affiliated with the wealthy Khadijah. At that time, Khadijah was prosperous and had various streams of income, cargo, and goods. She had numerous connections with other merchants who visited and traded in the city of Medina.
  • During this period, the Prophet (peace be upon him) honed his skills as a trader and cultivated positive behaviors in his interactions with others. Upon hearing about the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) character, the merchant Khadijah developed feelings for him, and they both fell in love. This marked the time when the Prophet (peace be upon him) married Khadijah and eventually benefitted from her wealth.
  • Among the notable actions of the Prophet (peace be upon him) was his worship at the Cave of Hira, where he sought to connect with the one God throughout his life. Eventually, sources indicate that the angel Gabriel descended from the heavens to greet him and convey a message regarding his prophethood. The first revelation he received was a command to read, despite the fact that he did not know how to read or write at that time.
  • The Prophet (peace be upon him) experienced fear and developed a feverish chill, prompting him to return home and request a curtain from his wife, Khadijah, for warmth. She acknowledged his condition and fulfilled his request. Gradually, the Prophet (peace be upon him) began to receive more revelations from the angel Gabriel, which included verses of the Quran. His close companions, known as sahabah, remembered these verses and documented them in various forms and locations. Prior to all this, he was referred to as Al-Amin, meaning “the most trusted,” due to his honesty, integrity, and exemplary character.
  • Among his most devoted sahabah, or companions, was Abu Bakr, who was renowned for his honesty. Other sahabah included Umar, Uthman, Ali, and several more. Abu Bakr accompanied the Prophet (peace be upon him) while they were concealed in a cave, evading the threats from the Quraish of Mecca. This moment exemplified true friendship when a snake bit Abu Bakr’s hand; he remained composed despite the agony and safeguarded his friend, the Prophet (peace be upon him).
  • The Prophet (peace be upon him) encountered challenges, particularly while urging the people of Mecca to worship a single God. He also faced difficulties during the conflicts between believers and non-believers, with notable wars waged against the Byzantine Empire during that era.
  • What makes the Prophet (peace be upon him) my favorite figure throughout history? To begin with, his teachings, conduct, and ethics centered around the pursuit of a peaceful existence, covering social, economic, and wartime dimensions. This is evident in numerous references, including his well-known hadith from the year of Hijrah. The Quran acts as a comprehensive guide and set of laws intended to steer humanity in all facets of life. Additionally, the Sunnah imparts valuable lessons essential for fostering peace among individuals and cultivating harmony within the Muslim community.
  • Even though many exaggerations exist regarding the religion of Islam, the core teachings of the Prophet (peace be upon him) highlight that Islam promotes every good deed and forbids wrongdoing in this life. Recognizing right from wrong is a crucial step as one matures into adulthood. Frequently, the Prophet (peace be upon him) instructed the Ummah on exemplary behaviors to emulate, as reflected in the hadith recorded by his sahabah and practiced by Muslims as part of the Sunnah.
  • I hold the belief that the most cherished figure in history is the beloved Prophet (peace be upon him). This conviction is supported by various sources, including the Quran, which directs humanity toward salvation before the end of their lives. Additionally, other sources, such as hadith, aid us in improving ourselves by reflecting his admirable character.
