One is defined as singular in number, calculated as first and not proceeding beyond that. One is used after zero, which has no value points, and before ‘second’ or ‘two.’ One denotes non-many and signifies not being married or having no partner associated with it. Thus, one represents a rare number, distinct from any subsequent number, and different from the preceding number, which is zero’s non-value.
A thing refers to something material, or an object that can be either living or non-living. What qualifies as a thing is something you have actually seen in real life, existing in front of you. Even if you are blind, these things exist where you can physically touch them with your hands or feel them through your body and heart. A thing can also encompass anything that does not exist, such as maya, which you can feel in your heart without physical touch; this could be a ghost or spirit you believe in, though it may just be an illusion.
Change signifies a difference from the previous state, describing the modification of your original self into a new one. This occurs when new information is integrated into another object, rendering it different from the original. Rather than cloning, they merely represent the original, which is no longer the authentic self. Consequently, change typically occurs either in the real or the non-real, where the real is what you perceive with your eyes, and the non-real is unseen by them.
Yourself refers to a representation of your own soul, where it exists in its true form. It cannot be another person, such as a friend, family member, cousin, or anyone else. Thus, self can be understood as a representation of one soul, signifying a singular entity that cannot be before one or after one.
The changes I desire in myself focus on becoming more concentrated while working and minimizing distractions. These distractions usually involve time-wasting activities; sometimes, even a small amount of time is allocated to unsuitable tasks, which is why I aim to improve this. The significance lies in that small changes, like tiny improvements, can greatly enhance my ability to manage time more effectively.
Therefore, the improvements I would consider for myself involve becoming more focused on specific tasks and avoiding worldly distractions. This focus can be achieved during prayer times, whether sunnah or obligatory. I aspire to become much better than I was before, surpassing others in productivity at work. This encourages me to continually seek betterment rather than remaining stagnant.
To enhance myself further, seeking knowledge is an essential and significant component of a more progressive path. The Prophet (saw) also emphasized the importance of seeking knowledge within the sunnah, as it aids in becoming a better person. Therefore, to enact change in myself, I must identify the means to pursue knowledge. This serves as the foundation of everything and marks the beginning of my journey.
