Memorable Gatherings: Celebrating Spirituality and Unity

A positive event that had little impact on me last year.
  • Positive refers to something beneficial, indicating a lack of misfortune rather than merely enhancing performance that creates a significant impact. Traditionally, “positive” has been associated with the plus sign, a symbol that aids understanding in contexts like mathematics, in contrast to its opposite, the minus sign.
  • Events are occurrences that involve gatherings of people, typically focused on specific themes for celebrations or speeches regarding current topics. Various types of events are organized by individuals who plan and invite numerous others to attend. This promotion is mainly accomplished through public advertising or announcements that the community can access.
  • A place denotes a building, area, or land that is accessible or visitable. Generally, a place welcomes everyone, allowing many individuals to participate, whether seated or standing. Some locations feature open markets where people can obtain items like food and water, and there are also places that offer these necessities for free.
  • Past pertains to events that have already occurred or are nearly forgotten by individuals. This concept encompasses daily experiences, where people create things and later overlook them or forget their life priorities. Additionally, the term “past” is frequently used in English to refer to matters that predate the current time.
  • A year is typically recognized within the Gregorian calendar, referred to as AC (After Christ), which marks the time following the birth of Jesus Christ. This concept also includes the Hijri calendar used in the Islamic tradition, which counts years from the Prophet’s (SAW) migration from Mecca to Medina, a significant occurrence in Muslim history.
  • Within the last year, notable positive events in my community included the festival celebrating the Birthday of the Prophet (SAW) and Eidul Adha. I did not attend most events throughout the year, which is linked to the Hijri calendar. The occasion I recall most vividly is the Prophet’s (SAW) birthday celebration, where the preacher delivered a talk in the mosque after my father invited me.
  • At this gathering, I encountered many new faces while enjoying a meal together. The food served was quite delightful. The positive results from this experience included making new acquaintances, sharing a meal that highlighted the shared hunger of others, and learning new songs and nasheeds reflecting on the hardships endured by the Prophet (SAW) during the spread of Islam.
  • I also celebrated Eidul Adha, which featured the event known as Qorban. This event taught me about the sacrificial trial of Prophet Ibrahim, who was commanded by Allah to sacrifice his son Ismail. Observing the sacrificial animals being prepared for their meat prompted me to reflect on mortality and increased my gratitude, especially for the provision of meat.
  • The final event involved a meeting at the mosque for mushawarah to organize and appoint individuals for specific roles within the community. This event allowed me to reconnect with an old friend and appreciate the significance of coming together to fill these positions, particularly within the mosque’s administration.
  • These events I attended last year brought blessings, enriching my interactions with various people, friends, and family throughout the year. They helped me build understanding, cooperation, and satisfaction regarding the provisions I received. I genuinely enjoyed these experiences, despite feeling a bit frustrated at times, which is natural, and the positives outweighed any negatives.
