Some of the underrated figures in history include Fatimah bint Muhammad, who is recognized as the daughter of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) from his first marriage to Khadijah. The origins of Islam can be traced back to this union between the Prophet and the well-known merchant Khadijah, who later supported him in spreading the teachings of the one true God, especially in Mecca. From what I understand, she is connected to the Prophet’s children, as Fatimah, also known as Az-Zahra, married her cousin Ali ibn Abi Talib, which created a new bond and strengthened their relationship as relatives. Initially, I didn’t know much about Fatimah; I mistakenly thought she was the Prophet’s wife instead of his daughter, due to my limited knowledge. I don’t recall much about the Prophet’s wives, though I am aware he had several during that time.
One of the underrated figures I think of is Hasan bin Ali, about whom I know a little. From what I gather, Hasan was actually the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and is part of the Prophet’s family. I understand that Hasan’s mother is Fatimah, as I mentioned earlier. I realized I needed to clarify who was involved in conflicts, and after looking at Wikipedia, I found that Hasan was involved in a struggle against Muawiyyah’s caliphate to determine the rightful ruler at that time. While I’m not entirely clear on the historical context of their conflict, it appears there were two caliphates vying for power: one led by Muawiyyah and the other by Hasan. In my opinion, Hasan’s caliphate was significantly weaker than Muawiyyah’s, which ultimately prevented Hasan from ruling or becoming the true caliph of Muslims during that period.
One of the most underrated figures, in my opinion, is Khadija, the first wife of the Prophet (saw). From my research on Wikipedia, I learned that their marriage lasted roughly twenty-five years, and Khadija passed away at the age of sixty-five. While I am not fully aware of the circumstances surrounding her death, I know that it is referred to in English as the Day of Sorrow, although I cannot recall the Arabic name for it. Khadija was a successful merchant who managed trade, and the Prophet (saw) assisted her during that time, contributing to the growing reputation of their trade, which was also supported by a person named Maisara.
In conclusion, these are the individuals I believe are underrated, particularly in relation to Islamic history, where they are often overlooked and not as well-known compared to other historical figures. I have chosen people connected to the Prophet (SAW) who may not be widely recognized, especially in discussions about Islamic matters. I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments section.
