The mystery in my life that I have never resolved relates to my family’s behavior, particularly regarding a material object I once owned that has since gone missing from my home. Throughout my life, I have accumulated several belongings from my childhood up to the present day, yet some of them I consider missing or lost along the way. Among the most significant items I want to discuss is my childhood bicycle, which I used during my primary school years. This bicycle holds nostalgic value as it accompanied me through my school days, featuring various gears that allowed me to increase speed or control my pace. Today, using such a bicycle is a precious reminder of my childhood. Unfortunately, this bike has been missing for many years, along with several other bicycles I used to own.
I used to own a bicycle, but it went missing until my sibling spotted it nearby. Over time, however, it has disappeared multiple times, and to this day, it has never been recovered. This absence has lasted nearly 18 years, and I could really use it now. I also used the bicycle for sports, riding in highlands or small mountains that served as a playground for me after school. It was enjoyable to play with the bicycle, as it involved going to high places and then descending from them. While there were no specific skills required, the thrill of facing fears and trying something new was exhilarating. Some of the bicycles I owned were also used to visit friends, where we often hung out and chatted, sometimes going to other shops to look for more bicycles. Those experiences were filled with mixed feelings due to the different types of friends I had.
Some of my friends used to own bikes that are rectangular in shape, while others, like mine, are square, which is a different type of bike I couldn’t quite identify. The one shaped like a rectangle is the one I wanted, but instead, I got the square bike from my father. I also use the bicycle to go to the sports field, particularly for football and badminton. This is where I gather with friends to exchange certain skills in various sports games on the field. One of the most memorable experiences I had with the bicycle was riding with many friends from elementary school to celebrate Malaysia’s Independence Day. We rode together, following the person in front, from one house to another that hosted gatherings, shouting “Independence.” Unfortunately, I don’t remember much else.
In conclusion, that bicycle holds a nostalgic value for me, and its absence over the years has left me with unanswered questions since I used to own it. Furthermore, the loss of my other bicycles has led to unresolved issues up to this day. I have not owned a bicycle since, as most of the ones from my childhood are no longer to be found. When I ask my parents, they claim not to know and leave me without any clues to the problem. I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
