  • “Of” is a preposition used between two nouns in a phrase.
  • According to the Copilot, a minimalist is someone who intentionally lives with less, prioritizing what truly matters while minimizing excess possessions, distractions, and stress.

The primary advantages of minimalist living include cost savings, a focus on what truly matters, and reduced overhead. Cost savings involve investing in items that genuinely matter and are essential for maintaining a standard of living, rather than opting for certain premium options that may go unused or wasted. Many individuals tend to gravitate towards products that promise various benefits, but all products come with their pros and cons. Typically, lower-priced items offer lower quality, while being affordable and easy to maintain. In contrast, higher-priced items tend to be more durable, come with warranties, and offer better quality. This can make decision-making challenging; however, from a wise budgeting standpoint, selecting quality products not only cuts costs in the long run but also prevents a decline in the item’s value and reduces the need for similar items. Thus, choosing quality products is an investment that pays off over time, particularly regarding what you want to acquire or own in the future, and it also benefits the environment when you opt for recycling.

When purchasing items for daily living, it typically involves a variety of products and ingredients. Many shops offer discounts and promotions as part of their marketing strategies, encouraging buyers to make quick purchases before the sale ends or the prices revert to normal. Focusing on essential items, such as healthier foods—whole grains, rice, meat, vegetables, and fruits—becomes the primary concern for those who truly value what matters. Living appropriately and buying standard-priced items can enhance one’s overall health by providing nutritional benefits and reducing the risk of diseases. In Islam, maintaining one’s health encourages individuals to prioritize buying items that are genuinely beneficial for themselves and others, contributing to the economic well-being of society.

Most purchases are driven by a desire to fulfill needs that enhance the benefits of the product while also encouraging genuine consumption. Opting for budget-friendly items when not truly needed not only saves money and reduces focus on material possessions but also limits excess to items accessible only to oneself. This tends to occur when purchasing products that require a certain stock availability in specific shopping environments. Buying cheaper or less expensive items reduces vulnerability to issues like crime or stress. Often, people compare themselves to others regarding their possessions, leading to behaviors influenced by the desires of those around them. Thus, selecting quality products that are also affordable helps minimize stress and overhead while protecting oneself from potential harm.

Although I find that there are many benefits to minimalist living, where one truly embodies the lifestyle of the Prophet (peace be upon him), who lived modestly and shared food with various people, I admire this approach. He chose to maintain a moderate standard of living, and it has become a part of being a Muslim to follow the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him). One of the most well-known foods he consumed is Ajwa dates, which come from Medina, the city of the Prophet’s migration, known for its economic activities that benefit its residents. The Prophet (peace be upon him) was also known to consume only what he had and would ask Allah for more, enjoying fresh milk during his time. In conclusion, I intend to follow the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him), prioritizing a minimalist lifestyle. I am not attempting to become wealthy but rather to stabilize my living conditions so that I can also support myself and those around me. While I do not wish to be impoverished, helping those in need, especially vulnerable children, has become a priority for me. I welcome your thoughts in the comment section.
